About Us

A club built by riders, for riders

Established in 2024 to promote and grow Working Equitation throughout regional South Australia and Victoria.

Our story

The Pines Working Equitation Group began with a handful of riders who travelled long distances to compete, and who believed the region deserved a group of its own. In 2024 that group became a committee, secured venues across the Limestone Coast and Western Districts, and ran a first season of competitions and clinics.

Since then, the group has grown into a regional community: riders swapping floats and advice, families volunteering together on competition weekends, and newcomers walking obstacle courses on foot before ever riding them.

Mission and values

Our mission

To promote and grow Working Equitation across our region while building genuine horsemanship in every rider who joins us.

Inclusive by design

All ages, all breeds, all experience levels. Grassroots riders share the day with advanced competitors.

Horse welfare first

Correct training, fair judging and the wellbeing of the horse guide every decision we make.

Community minded

We are part of our regions — demonstrations, shows, local sponsors and volunteers.

Committee

Our committee is made up of volunteer members elected each year at the annual general meeting. Reach out any time — we would rather answer a question early than have someone miss a day out.

Where we are headed

2027

A full four-phase championship weekend with cattle, plus a dedicated grassroots series across both states.

2028

Accredited judge and coach education hosted locally, so members no longer travel interstate to qualify.

Beyond

1.       A permanent home ground with two full obstacle sets, events and training at different grounds around the region and year-round training calendar.
